`Good Burger 2` Review
Back at the GoodBurger
by: Phoenix McCall
Logline
Two childhood friends reunite again to save their beloved burger restaurant, this time with higher stakes.
Strengths
The plot specifically the driving comedic elements are the strength of this film. The storyline was solid with classic comedic bits, such the scene where Ed sprayed sauce in the German YouTubers face. The celebrity appearances only
enhanced the comedic element. With the film starting with a cameo from Pete Davidson waking Ed from a dream at the Good Burger counter and other celebrity appearances such as Maya Rudolph, Kai Cenat and many more. You can tell this was a well thought out passion project from Nickelodeon.
Weaknesses
A weakness of the film is the lack of variation with the shots and angles when showing the characters. The did not experiment with shots as much as they could have especially with the heavy comedy aspect, they could have been more adventurous with their shots to enhance the humor.
Goals
I believe the primary goal of this film is to deliver the long awaited sequel of the classic film that is Good Burger. The original movie is so culturally significant, that for the past couple years people have anticipated this movie. You can tell it is a true display of comedy as well with Keenan and Kel able to exercise their comedy chops and bring joy to an audience
Rating
At the end of the day Good Burger 2 is a reminder of our childhood and the constant presence of capitalism. The film is an instant reminder of our childhood. With the character Ed played by Ken Mitchell his sauce and the continuation of the Mondo Burger storyline; the film is an instant reminder of our childhoods. I feel like the film may have leaned too far into Ed and over characterized him, but as the film went on it became more appropriate. It’s a great family watch and I enjoyed it on my own. It is a comedic film for all ages
